The film is about the true story of Pratap Singh, played by Dilip Kumar, who was later tried for the murder of his elder brother's wife, who was poisoned by an Indian Muslim doctor. Pratap is arrested by the British police and is then sent to England for trial. The doctor is found not guilty and Pratap is set free and he returns to India.
Plot
Pratap Singh is a simple man who lives with his family in a village. He is the brother of Narayan Singh, a revolutionary who has been killed. Pratap is wrongly arrested by the British police on charges of the murder.
Pratap is brought to the court, where he faces a cross-examination by the judge. The judge then appoints a judge who asks Pratap's two daughters, Sanju (or Sumi) and Radha, to testify against Pratap. They both state that the doctor who performed the surgery is responsible for the murder. The court then asks the two daughters to leave.
The judge then orders that Pratap be put in chains and taken to jail, but Pratap escapes and is brought to the British capital, London, for trial.

Trimurti Films was established in the 1960s and produced many hit Hindi films, like, Parakh (1965), Sab Kuch Meetha Hai (1965), Do Phool (1968), Chaudhvin Ka Chand (1969), and Qurbani (1976).
It is not known which Trimurti Film Vidhaata was produced by. The company's name "Trimurti" comes from the Sanskrit word for "three beings" or "three principles".

The film was shot in London, Los Angeles, New York City, and Punjab. The shooting of the film was held in, Kalka, Shimla, Manali, Himachal Pradesh, and Chandigarh.
